I'm here today pissed off the expectations that we as Angsana-nians have to face. I don't know from whence the norm came that Angsana was the "best" class in our school but..... GUYS. YOU. NEED. TO. CHILL. OUT. Seriously, everyone thinks of us as the "best","smartest", and any number of adjectives to describe us a superior group of people. Realistically though, there are many other people that deserve this praise more than us.
An example of these expectations is the ridiculous range of exams that we are expected to get. To grossly simplify, we are expected to score an A at the minimum whereas say the "last" class is expected to get a D or a C, despite all of us being humans on earth. This expectation has forced us, the Angsana-nians to work ourselves to the limits, only to be discouraged because we are unable to meet these expectations, thus we discourage ourselves to the point of morphing our own personality and vice versa,
We are also expected to hand in all our homework on time whereas there is usually more leeway for the "last" few classes. Following up on my previous point, in the pursuit of meeting our expectations, we are constantly bombarded with heaps of homework, thus we are unable to study or relax at all because we are constantly buried under the stress of deadlines. In the end, we are forced to burn the midnight oil just to catch up on the studies that we are slow on, and with the endless amount of tuitions that our parents put us under to "remedy" our lackluster results, end up putting us through a whole new world of pain.
Lastly, we're forced to cope with the teachers' impression of the "best" class. Teachers have the most ridiculous expectations when it comes to class ranking in schools. Honestly, would be motivated teaching the "best" of the "best" or teaching the "worst"? This causes the teachers of the "better" classes to expect too much of the students there, and expect less of the "worse" classes. This indirectly causes the teacher to teach faster in the "better" classes and expecting the class to follow along even if it is very difficult to do so.
Conclusively, teachers. PLEASE. Put away your expectations for our class, as we're just as human as any of the "worse" classes. Also please lighten the load you put on us as not all of us can cope with the homework, co-curriculum, and tuition that you expect us to be able to cope with. Thank you in advance.
From your dearest student,
Ryan Isaac
